Once you’ve emptied your stocking full of presents, you can venture out and fill up your belly with a glorious festive feast with all of the trimmings – all of the hard work is done for you, and you don’t even have to do the washing up. In the spirit of the season, here are a bunch of places on the Gold Coast where you can eat, drink and be merry on Christmas Day.

The Star Gold Coast
Christmas Day is the gift that keeps on giving at The Star Gold Coast, with festive events being held across its popular venues Cucina Vivo, Garden Kitchen & Bar, Imperial at The Star and the Event Centre. Your dreams of an Italian Christmas need not be cancelled completely, with a little taste of the boot coming to the Cucina Vivo terrace. Enjoy traditional Italian favourites and reimagined classics in a four-course lunch with three-hour beverage package, which ventures from Moreton Bay Bug ravioli to red velvet white Christmas slice. A special four-course Christmas lunch with three-hour beverage package has also been created by the Garden Kitchen & Bar chefs, treating guests to fresh seafood, alternate drops of Borrowdale pork or crispy skin ocean trout, and white chocolate cheesecake. A festive feast of Asian flavours will be served at Imperial at The Star, where divine combinations of Mandarin and Cantonese ingredients will feature in a banquet lunch and 2.5-hour beverage package. Alternatively, gather your nearest and dearest and step into the themed ballroom of the Event Centre, where you can enjoy an all-you-can-eat lunch and four-hour beverage package, live entertainment and a visit from good old Santa himself.

Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort
From indulgent degustation lunches to a festive-themed buffet dinner, Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort has all your times and tastes covered. Horizons restaurant will welcome groups of five or more for a signature seven-course degustation with matched wines, live entertainment and ocean views, while Oyster Bar & Grill will cater better for smaller groups of two to four, while also offering a seven-course degustation with matched wines, roving entertainment and a visit from Santa. If a seafood dinner is more your style, nab a seat at Terraces Restaurant to indulge in oysters, crab, bugs, mussels, smoked salmon, ocean king prawns and more.

The Island
Surfers Paradise events destination The Island will be dishing up a Christmas Day buffet lunch with hot and cold seafood, roast meats, roast vegies, summery salads and of course some delicious desserts. Guests can purchase drinks from the Glasshouse Terrace Bar on the day. Choose from two sittings and feast on Atlantic salmon, Hervey Bay scallops, maple-and-mustard-glazed ham, traditional Christmas pudding and more in the stunning Glasshouse. QT Gold Coast
This venue has all time-slots covered, meaning you could effectively pop in for breakfast with the family, stay for lunch with the in-laws and round it out with a Christmas dinner feast with friends. Bazaar will be dishing up pancakes and bacon for one-hour breakfast bookings (different prices apply for QT guests and external visitors), a seafood and salad feast with a three-hour beverage package for lunch, and a Christmas marketplace-themed meal complete with chocolate fountain, live music and a free gift from Santa for the kids for dinner. Lunch will also be served in Yamagen restaurant, where guests can savour Japanese seafood and wagyu paired with your choice of drinks including sake and champagne, while the QT Ballroom will come alive with interactive food stations, live entertainment and a visit from Santa. Head to the signature Hilton restaurant in the Surfers Paradise hotel for an extravagant seafood buffet lunch with beverage package on Christmas Day. InterContinental Sanctuary Cove
The InterContinental will be hosting three special events across two stunning venues this Christmas Day. Step inside signature restaurant The Fireplace to enjoy executive chef Matt Hart’s four-course meal teamed with drinks for an adults-only lunch. Think barbecue Baharat spiced quail with beetroot puree, compressed pickled shitake and charred fig, a turkey ballotine with walnut, golden raisin, thyme and fig stuffing, and a chocolate parfait with toffee cream, smoked almond, cacao sable and caramelised banana gelee, alongside other equally indulgent dishes. Macarthur’s Ballroom will be serving up sumptuous buffets for both lunch and dinner, including traditional carvery favourites as well as premium seafood and beverages. Seagulls Club
Head along to The Tweed’s Seagulls Club on Christmas Day to enjoy a traditional three-course lunch and premium three-hour beverage package at LOT TWO. Fill the belly with your choice of prawns, oysters and smoked salmon, antipasto or vegetarian vegeducken to start, a main of roast turkey, honey-glazed ham or roast pork with crackling, and a sweet treat of pavlova or Christmas pudding. Guests aged 12 and under can devour a two-course meal including gelato and unlimited soft drink. It’s no surprise that a number of Christmas Day events hosted by Palazzo Versace are already sold out for 2020, so you’d better be quick to nab a seat for the events with availability at time of writing. Miss Moneypenny’s
Who doesn’t love a traditional banquet lunch with all the trimmings on Christmas Day – especially if you don’t have to cook it yourself? Tuck in to seafood shareboards, carved roasts, maple-glazed Bangalow ham and, by popular demand, Miss Moneypenny’s pavlova with seasonal fruit. Little Truffle
If you are on the hunt for a memorable meal, Little Truffle in Mermaid Beach is offering a lavish lunch feast for $155 per person. Start with an entree of seared veal or a prawn and lobster cocktail followed by mains of wagyu tenderloin with potato gratin or confit-duck leg with cumquat and thyme glaze alongside seared duck breast. Searching for a family-friendly event with the freshest seafood and a chilled vibe? Currumbin Beach Vikings surf club is the place. Robina Pavilion
‘Tis the season to sit back and celebrate with Robina Pavilions’ ultimate Christmas Feast – with kids under five eating free and a special appearance from Santa! Doors open from 11:00 am and guests will be treated to a buffet of decadent delights including a fresh seafood selection, glazed ham and the star of the show, tropical pavlova. The merry meal is priced at $139 including a glass of bubbles, beer or soft drink but if you happen to be a little thirstier, opt for the Jolly Feast which includes a three-hour drinks package of house wine, beers, bubbles and soft drinks for $199. Robina Pavilions’ much loved outdoor precinct, The Lakeside, will also be open for casual walk-ins with a pizza and beverage menu available for those looking for more laidback festivities. Jupiters Gold Coast will add another two notches to its culinary belt when the doors to its two new eateries swing open this Friday December 16. Mei Wei Dumplings and M&G Cafe and Bar are the latest venues to boost the hotel’s gastronomic offerings, which form part of a $345-million transformation.

If dumplings are your thing, then imagine watching them be hand-crafted into mouth-watering creations right in front of your eyes. Well, at Mei Wei Dumplings, there’s a 2.6 metre viewing panel over the dumpling assembly area, so you won’t miss a thing. Mei Wei, which translates to ‘delicious’, is being driven by Mandarin and Cantonese flavours with the menu to feature 50 unique dishes, from Xia Jiao (prawn dumplings) to Xiao Long Bao (mini soup buns). In developing the menu, the Mei Wei chefs introduced 120 new ingredients to Jupiters … yes, 120. Let’s put it into context – the Shanghai Noodles with Taiwanese-style beef is made from 31 ingredients. Intriguing, right? It’s dishes like that which are best left to the professionals – and we’ll happily leave our appetites in their hands.

M&G Cafe and Bar (short for meet and greet) will feature a classic cafe-style produce-driven menu from poached pears in the morning to tuna nicoise salads and tasty reuben sandwiches by day – expect to see all of your daytime favourites with a wholesome, contemporary twist. The two new venues are situated in the space formerly occupied by Spinners, with both fit-outs designed by world-renowned architectural design firm Luchetti Krelle. A raw industrial-style space inspired by a contemporary take on the hawkers lanes in Hong Kong has been created for Mei Wei, whilst M&G exudes a more sleek and sophisticated style. Jupiters is turning up the heat when it comes to its culinary offerings – the two new openings follow on from the success of its award-winning Kiyomi, Garden Kitchen & Bar and Italian eatery Cucina Vivo.
